David G. Epling

David G. Epling passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at his home in Rocky Point, Oregon due to complications of Parkinson's.

He was born in Pe Ell, Wash. April 21, 1935 to Glen and Marie Looney. After the death of both parents at age five, he was adopted and raised by his cousin, Harold Epling and his wife, Minnie.

David graduated Pe Ell High School in 1953, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1956. He attended Centralia Junior College, and graduated Willamette University in 1961 and began a lifelong career working with troubled teens. For over 42 years, David worked for the State of Oregon as a juvenile parole officer with Jackson County and was recognized for piloting programs for delinquent teens. After retirement, he continued working for the Klamath County Juvenile Department for five years. David was highly regarded in his field and respected by clients and colleagues alike.

David's passion was building his lakeside retirement home, Ravenwood Manor in Rocky Point. He loved junking at garage sales, collecting antiques, and gardening. He was a kind and generous man who was often helping others.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Walker and her husband Scott of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Lisa Murray and her husband Rick of Klamath Falls, Ore.; three grandchildren, Megan Epling, Maggie Walker, and Griffin Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and sister, Margaret.

No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Eternal Hills Crematory, Klamath Falls, Oregon.
