Duane Steven Lowenberg

Duane Steven Lowenberg passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014. He was born in Goodell, Iowa December 21, 1939 to Arthur and Mary Lowenberg. Duane grew up on the family farm with his 6 siblings; Merlin, Lois, Joan, Elizabeth, Tom, and Therese. Duane graduated from Belmond High School in 1957.

After graduating from high school, Duane attended and graduated from Loras College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1963. In 1964 he began a 33-year career at 3M Corporation with jobs in Birmingham, Ala., St. Paul, Minn., San Diego, Calif., and White City, Ore. In White City, Duane worked as the Human Resources Manager and was the President of the Rogue Valley Chapter of the PNPMA and President of the 3M Club. After retiring from 3M in 1997 Duane became Vice President at Hilo Incorporated.

Duane's hobbies included woodworking and stained glass. He built many custom pieces for family and friends including bedframes, cabinets, tables, and birdhouses. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing fruit and vegetables.

Duane is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Chris (Marggi) Lowenberg, Jason (Mischel) Lowenberg, and Brendan (Cristina) McDermott; and daughter, Molly Neron. Eight grand-children also survive him.

His quick wit and dry sense of humor will be missed.
