Clara Mae Schleigh

September 8, 1927 to February 5, 2014

Clara Schleigh passed away peacefully at the age of 86 at C&M Adult Foster Care where she resided for the past year.

Clara was born to John W. "Bill" Bigham and Myra (Avery) Bigham on September 8, 1927. The Bighams were an early Southern Oregon pioneer family. Clara lived her entire life in Jackson County. Larry later became a brick mason and Clara was employed by the Medford School District as a cook at Hoover Elementary School for many years.

Clara was a faithful member of the Apostolic Faith Church for over 60 years. She was the church's head cook for social functions and every year anticipated cooking for the annual Youth Camp held in the mountains of Southern Oregon. She taught Sunday School for many years and the young children were always a joy to her. She had a special concern for the children from the rural areas who rode the Sunday School buses to church.

She is survived by her son, Daniel (Teresa) Schleigh of Eagle Point, Ore.; three grandchildren, Cody, Clint, and Tonya; two great-grandsons; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Kelly Schleigh; sister, Cora Anderson; and husband, Larry Schleigh.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Faith Church, 285 Sunrise Avenue, Medford, Oregon. All are welcome to attend. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
