James Hugh Johnson
James Hugh Johnson went home to be with Jesus April 30, 2014 in Medford, Ore. at the age of 98. He was born October 11, 1915 in Houston, Texas.
James was a World War II Veteran. Serving in the 224th Army Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, he served on the Northern Solomon Island in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. An Airplane Armorer, he was in charge of 24 armorers. He chose the priority of jobs and assigned men to duties and inspected all work done on Aircraft Armament. He was one of nine Johnson brothers to serve in WWII at the same time. He later became a USPS Mailman retiring in the early 70s. He moved to Medford, Ore. after the death of his wife, Marceline Mildred Talley Johnson, in 1974. He then worked in the Church garage until retiring a second time to gardening and woodwork.
He is survived by his second wife of 38 years, Ellen Mae Brown Faber Johnson; his daughter, Marceline Tallant of Medford, Ore.; his son, John Johnson of Pocatello, Idaho.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by two brothers and his sister out of a family of 10 boys and one girl.
A viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Conger Morris Funeral Home, 767 S. Riverside, Medford, Ore. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Apostolic Faith Church, 285 Sunrise Ave. Medford, Ore. Rev. William McKibben will officiate. A Military Salute at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, Ore. will follow the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
