Cora Mary Giovannetti
Cora, our beloved Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma, passed away peacefully at her home in Central Point, Ore. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 surround by family.
Cora is survived by her five children, Robert, Lawrence, Darrell, Sharon, and Dale; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; companion, Tom; sisters, Marie and Nellie; and daughters-in-law, Janet and Deanna.
Cora was born in Canso, Nova Scotia, Canada June 22, 1936 to Charles Alphonse Fogarty and Hilda Mae Richardson. After her parents passed away she was raised in Canada by her guardian, Mrs. Chisholm.
On July 27, 1957 she married Adrian Joe Wilfred Giovannetti in Toronto, Canada. Her sisters, Marie and Nellie, still reside in Canada.
In 1960 Cora and Joe moved to California and raised their five children. In 1976 Cora moved to Medford, Ore. with her family. She enjoyed finding little treasures in the local thrift stores. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she always made it a very special holiday for her family.
Cora later moved to Central Point, Ore. where she became an active member of TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly in Medford 0195. She lost over 50 pounds and was able to keep it off. Her family was very proud of her for this accomplishment. She spent her Wednesdays enjoying the companionship of all the TOPS members, her friends, and loved to play all the games.
A memorial service for Cora will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 by the Rose Garden at Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford, Ore. A celebration of her life will follow from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the club house at Greenbrier Mobile Terrace, Central Point, Ore.
