1929 ~ 2014
Catherine Kimball passed away April 21, 2014, at the age of 85. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Cloudcrest Adult Foster Care Home where she had lived for the past year. Catherine, who was born Mary Catherine Smith, came into the world March 31, 1929. She was one of seven Smith children born to Clyde and Mildred Smith of Jacksonville, Oregon (the other children were Neoma, Lea, Clara, Carol, Clyde Jr., and Steve). The Smiths were descended from some of the early settlers who first came to the Jacksonville/Ruch area.
Catherine attended Jacksonville Elementary School and Jacksonville High School, were she graduated as class valedictorian in 1946. She married Red Condon and had one daughter, Sidney Condon. That marriage ended in divorce. After the Korean War ended, Catherine married Charles William Kimball, Sr. in 1952. Together, they had a son, Charles William Kimball, Jr.
Catherine, Charles Sr., Sidney, and Chuck Jr. lived as a happy family in Jacksonville on D Street for many years.
Catherine was a career beautician who co-owned a beauty shop on Peach Street in Medford. She served one term as a councilwoman on the Jacksonville City Council.
She is survived by her siblings, Clyde, Steve, and Carol; her daughter, Sidney Paquin; her son, Charles Kimball Jr.; her granddaughter, Rachelle Paquin; and her grandson, Bryce Hardgraves. She was a wonderful woman and she will be missed.
Friends and family are welcome to join a graveside gathering at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7th, at the Log Town Cemetery in Ruch.
