Wilber Dean Boatwright Jr.

Wilber Dean Boatwright Jr. (Willie) went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home in Eagle Point, Ore. Willie was born March, 17, 1965 in Central Point, Ore. to Wilber and Cheryl Boatwright.

Willie graduated from Eagle Point High School in 1983. After he graduated he went to work in the timber industry as his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather had done before him. He left the timber industry to try his hand at other vocations. He worked for the YMCA as their Property Manager for a time and moved on to work in cabinet making. From there he moved on to work for the Eagle Point School District. He became a pastor and co-pastored with his father at the Upper Rogue Full Gospel Fellowship in Eagle Point, Ore.

Willie loved archery, playing softball, and bowling. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Willie was very good with a bow and a rifle. He loved to cook as well. He made many good dishes with salmon and venison. He loved to create his own recipes and we, as family and friends, enjoyed them.

Willie is survived by his parents, Wilber and Cheryl of Eagle Point, Ore.; son, Darrick (Bethany) of White City, Ore.; brothers, Jim (Julie) Weeks of Plains, Mont., Branden, Jeremiah, Kaden, and Theron of Eagle Point, Ore.; and sister,

Shelley (Daniel) Bennett of Eagle Point, Ore.; two grandchildren, Rayven and Nikolai; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Willie's life will be held June 21, 2014 at Joseph Stewart State Park at Lost Creek Lake. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Cancer Society or to the Rogue Valley USBC, OR, c/o Roxyanne Lanes, Medford, Ore.
