Margaret Jones

Margaret Jones of Longmont passed away October 13, 2014 at The Bridge, Longmont. She was 101.

Margaret was born July 15, 1913 in Empire, Colo. to Ernest Jones and Mary Callahan. She was raised in Blackhawk as a young lady, moving to Loveland where she graduated from high school.

Margaret graduated from Colorado State Teachers College, getting a degree from Normal School in 1933. She returned to Greeley to get her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1944. She taught many years in Lyons, Central Elementary in Longmont and originally an old country school in what is now the bottom of Carter Lake. In 1951, she moved to Medford, Oregon at Roosevelt Elementary where she taught school for a number of years before retirement.

During her summers and in retirement she took advantage of world travel. With friends and acquaintances she traveled to many foreign countries. She returned to Longmont in 2008. She still had her internal fight, keeping up with current events and sports.

Margaret is preceded by a sister Helen Jones and two brothers Frank and Carl Jones.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Howe Mortuary.

A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, October 20 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A Mass of the Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
