Clyde C. Matthews
On Friday, October 31, 2014 Clyde C. Matthews, 89, passed away unexpectedly at Providence Medical Center. He was born and raised in Wisconsin. His mother passed away when he was seven and at the age of 14 he became an Eagle Scout. At 18 he was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. After graduating from Purdue University he worked in the Aerospace Industry as an engineer. He attended Bethel Theological Seminary and was ordained a Minister. He pastored churches in Mich., Mont., Wash., Ore., and Calif. In 1981 he began ministry as a VA Chaplain in Calif. endorsed by the Congregational Church including Ft. Miley Hospital, and in White City, Ore. at the VA Domiciliary from 1992-1995 under the endorsement of the Southern Baptist, then worked on call until 2002. Later he volunteered as Chaplain for Homeland Security. He was an active member at Foothills Baptist Church (Waters of Life) and Medford Senior Center. The family is thankful for many wonderful memories and rejoice that he was the Lord's kinsman.
Survived by wife, Dorothy Mae; sons, Mark of Ore. and Bret (Fulvia); and granddaughters, Candece, Esther, & Katrina, of N.Y.; nephew, James (Carol) and son, Zachary Matthews; and niece Mary (Ted) and son, Benjamin Mackey, all of Wis.
Chaplain Delgado will officiate an open casket memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 at Waters of Life Church, 2722 Springbrook Rd. Medford, Ore. Fellowship to follow. Interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. sharp at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
