Raymond Lewis Thompson

Raymond L. Thompson was born November 5, 1943 in Medford, to Howard and Dorothy (Townsley) Thompson and passed away peacefully at his home in Prospect October 17, 2014, at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Keith Thompson.

Ray is survived by his wife, Sheila Thompson; son, Randy Thompson; daughters, Candice Thompson, LeAnn Kiefer, and Jessica Scott; grandkids, Tyler and Bryce Tepper, Cody and Bailey Thompson, Isaiah and Jazzmynn Kiefer, and Avery and Harper Scott; his sister, Lorna Kahnert; and niece, Brenda Barnes.

Ray was a river guide on the Rogue River for 30 years and also retired from Ryko Chemical Plant. He loved the simple, uncomplicated beauties of life, including elk hunting, fishing, spoiling his wife, family gatherings, his pets, spending time in his shop creating and building amazing things, and being a spectator and supporter at his grandkids' activities. Ray was especially proud of his family and bragged about each of his kids and grandkids as often as he was given the chance.

Ray was always warm hearted, quick witted, a funny story, a shoulder to cry on, a pat on the back, logic when needed, and a smile. He was a son, a brother, a husband, and a dad. He was our hero. Wherever he went Ray made new friends.

Raymond will forever have a spot in the hearts of those who knew him, he will be missed and never forgotten. Please join us at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Edgewater Inn, Shady Cove, Ore. as we remember Ray's life and celebrate all the joy he brought to ours.
