Doris Lucy Bell

Doris Lucy Bell passed away November 23, 2014 in Central Point, Ore. She was born in Bearcreek, Mont. May 27, 1926 to Morris Sconfienza (July 29,1904-May 30,1963) and Bernice Sconfienza (McGluichy) (June 10, 1905-1929).

Doris worked for Harry and David as a customer service representative. Doris served as a Cub Scout leader while raising her children, and after retirement found joy in volunteering in the SMART program at Central Point Elementary and working with students there to share her joy of learning and reading.

Doris grew up in Red Lodge, Montana where she graduated from high school with honors. She was active in school, participating as a Cheerleader, Drum Major, and a member of the The Italian Girls Club. She loved music and played the violin, the mandolin, and the viola. She also sang and had a high soprano voice. One of Doris' and her husband Jim's favorite things to do was to go dancing. Later in life Doris became a devoted Portland Trailblazer Fan, enjoyed collecting teddy bears, and enjoyed flower gardening. If she had one guilty pleasure it was that she loved coffee, always having two pots on. She also enjoyed chocolate truffles, lemon truffles, and lemon pie. She loved her family and for years hosted huge holiday dinners with her children and their families.

Doris was feisty, passionate, and loved to laugh, passing along that love to her children. They are grateful for that gift, and comforted in knowing that although the unique spark of light that manifested itself as Doris has passed on, that which is eternal can never truly die.

She is survived by six children and their spouses, Sandra Miller (Bill), Marie Bowers (Dana), Sharon Stevens (David), James M. Bell (Eva), Diana Flannery (Richard), Bryon Bell (Rochelle); two brothers and one sister, Paul Sconfienza, Edwin Sconfienza, Rita Beth Sconfienza; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James Henry Bell (Aug 21,1923-Nov 1, 1998); and two grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford, Ore.
