Claude Potts

Claude "Pottsy" passed away peacefully November 8, 2014. He was born October 28, 1928 in San Francisco, Calif. His father's logging business brought the family to the Rogue Valley. After his father was killed in a logging accident, he took a job at Beck's Bakery until he became a millworker at Elks Lumber. He then proceeded to Medco and ultimately retired from Boise Cascade in 1994 after 42 years of service as the left-handed head Sawyer.

In his youth he was an avid water skier and later, reading, golf, and bowling became his passions. If you asked him he was the best golfer, if you asked anyone else he was the best bowler with two 295+ games and two 300 games, which in the '80s was very hard to achieve.

From his first marriage he was given two daughters, Paula (Wade) Thomas and Claudia (David) Parker and they gave him six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In 1972 he married the love of his life, Carol Schneider and expanded his family with two step-children, Valeri Schneider and Barri Schneider and later a granddaughter, Baylee, along with his companion, Auggie Dog. He was very proud of all of them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Sr.; mother and stepfather, Pauline and Glen Van Horn; and stepson, Barri Schneider. He is survived by his wife Carol; three daughters; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Providence H.H. for their wonderful care, everyone at 3 Fountains who cared for him during his rehab., J. Sweeney, FNP who watched over him diligently, Dr. K. Michels, MD and the Providence ICU nurses who took such gentle care of him.

At his request there will be no service.

His steel blue eyes, kindness, and dry sense of humor will be forever missed. We love you.
