Bernard Eugene Krueger

Bernard Eugene Krueger of Talent, Ore. passed away peacefully at home December 11, 2014, surrounded by several of his loving family members. Bernard was born in Westwood, Calif. March 10, 1927, to Borghild and George Krueger. The family later moved to Klamath Falls and then Ashland.

In 1945, Bernard begged his mother for permission to join the Merchant Marines, serving for two years. He later joined the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, the Philippines, and Japan for 8 years. Bernard said, Of all the jobs I had in my life, I am most proud of serving in the Army.

Bernard was very active at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland, and was instrumental in establishing the 24-hour prayer Chapel. He was especially proud of graduating from Ashland High School in 1944 and was active in the annual class reunions. Bernard had been a member of the Elks for over 25 years and enjoyed Friday night poker with his friends.

Survivors include sisters, Erma Bohn of Ashland, Beatrice

Pedersen of Talent, Sister Shirley Krueger, snjm, of Marylhurst, Ore.; brothers, Donald (Carol) Krueger of Los Angeles, Calif., and Raymond (Lynda) Krueger of Florence, Ore.; along with 14 nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Krueger, and sister, Mabel Kelley.

A funeral Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland, with the Rosary at 8:00 a.m. Following a reception, burial will take place at the Eagle Point National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
