Delora Lay Van Horn
On Christmas Day, December 25, 2014 our mother and grandmother Delora Lay Van Horn passed away peacefully in her home of over 60 years, surrounded by family. Delora was born March 7, 1914 in Indian Valley, Idaho with her identical twin Dolores to Lillie Woods and John Lay. The family moved to Oregon when she was a teen. Attending school in Toledo, Ore. then moving on and settling in the Rogue Valley.
In 1933 she married E.B. Van Horn and they had three children, Joan Lucas, Keith Van Horn, and Julie Flagg of whom Keith survives. These children generated numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all loved and admired her. As most people in the Rogue Valley Delora and "Van" liked to gamble and travelled to Reno may times. She also enjoyed agate collecting on the Oregon Coast. She interacted most of her life with her two brothers, Roy and Vernon Lay as well as her other sisters, Viola and Lila. She was a product of the Depression and believed in hard work as most of her generation did. She worked in the packing houses during the pear season.
She will be sorely missed as we loved and respected her.
