W. Rayburn Erwin
Central Point resident, W. Rayburn Erwin passed away December 28, 2014 at his winter home in Yuma, Ariz. Rayburn was born January 11, 1929 in Mountainair, N.M. to Arthur and Dollie Erwin. Rayburn was a Korean War veteran.
Rayburn was a carver and provided his friends and family with many beautiful items to remember him by. He especially loved to provide his carvings for a yearly fundraiser for the Youth of the Central Point Presbyterian Church where he had been a member for almost 15 years.
Rayburn is survived by Jean, his wife of 56 years; sons, Mike Erwin of Brookings, Paul and Corby Erwin of Portola, Calif., and Neil Erwin of Gold Hill; and daughter, Laurel Nickels of Ashland. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Cedar and Rebecca Nickels of Portland, Annapurna Nickels of Ashland, and Jonathan Alrick of Ashland. He has two great-granddaughters, Ashley Francis and Jude Nickels.
A memorial service for Rayburn will be held in Central Point in the spring.
