Born in North Bend, Ore. to Homer and Alice Cochran, Grant was an only child for 10 years until his brother, Loren, joined the family. Grant graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1952 and married Genevieve Bauguess. He worked for Tucker Snow Cat then, in 1955 was hired by Pacific Power & Light as a power house operator. His career took them to Prospect, Copco, and Toketee Falls where they raised three children. Grant also put in many volunteer hours. He obtained EMT certification and helped start CREST (Cascade Rescue & Emergency Services Team). In 1976 a PP&L promotion prompted a move to Shady Cove where Grant was involved in founding the Upper Rogue Community Center. After retiring in 1994 he relocated to Lopez Island, Wash. and in 2003 was baptized in the Pacific Ocean to reaffirm his acceptance of Christ in 1955. Returning to Medford in 2005, he married his last love, Jeanie Clark, and they traveled the U.S. in their motor home.
Grant will be fondly remembered by his wife, Jeanie; brother, Loren (Arla); his children, Dace (Melissa), Julie (Mark), and Chris (Kerrie); as well as six grandchildren, Colton, Kelsey, Carson, Cobi, Keziah, and Tobia.
