Gerald Sherman Day
Gerald Sherman Day passed away February 26, 2015 in Medford, Ore. at the age of 83. He was born in Oakland, Calif. to George Day and Jewel Marie (Dingler) Day, and was raised by his mother in San Francisco, Calif. He entered the military at an early age and served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman, touring throughout Asia, and serving in the Korean War. After marrying, he was honorably discharged from the Navy so he could be closer to his wife and raise a family. He worked as an air traffic controller for the remainder of his professional life, and retired early to pursue his interests in collecting militaria and antiques.
He was a loving father who was greatly involved in the lives of his daughters who were champion swimmers throughout their childhoods. His daughter Suzanne was an accomplished artist in San Francisco and his daughter Terri is a criminal defense attorney in Phoenix. He was a jovial man, with a constant twinkle in his eye who always had an interesting story to share. He loved family and friends, entertaining, the outdoors, and his Scottish Terriers, Angel and Ginger.
Gerry is survived by his former wife, Alicia; daughter, Terri; and his loving companion and friend, Donna Clark.
A service for Gerry will be held at 10:00 a.m. March 20, 2015 at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, Oregon 97524.
