Geneva Rosel Canty
Geneva Rosel Canty, our beloved mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away surrounded by her family Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Providence Hospital, Medford.
Geneva was born March 9, 1930 in Commerce, Ga. to father, F.C. Williamson and mother, Amanda Mason (Williamson). She married Robert (Bob) L. Canty on April 9, 1947 in Kingston, Ga. because she said there was no waiting period. They moved to Jacksonville, Ore. on Valley Lane shortly after starting their life together.
Geneva worked in the health center at Rogue Valley Manor and retired from the manor after 34 years of service.
She loved her neighborhood family on Covina Avenue and missed them greatly when she moved away from her residence. Visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her day and her best times.
Her hobbies included ceramics, gardening, and reading anything and everything.
Geneva is survived by her three sons, Mike (Valerie) Canty, Larry (Becky) Canty, and Don (Debbie) Canty; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Jurell Caulder of Wellford, S.C.; brother, Connie Williamson of China Grove, N.C.; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews in the south. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Barbara Canty; sister, Jeanette Benton; and brother, Chuck Williamson.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives of Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Southern Oregon Humane Society.
