Richard 'Dick' Cooper Sherrill
Richard "Dick" Cooper Sherrill, 69, of Yreka, Calif. passed away March 17, 2015 at RVMC in Medford. He was born February 1, 1946 in Pomeroy, Wash. to James Kimble and Mary Ellis Morris. Richard and Carolyn Sherrill were married March 31, 1970 in Spokane, Wash.
Richard attended Spokane Community College and Columbia Basin College and was a graduate of Preston Road School of Preaching. He served with the U.S Army Reserves. He was the preacher at Yreka Church of Christ.
His hobbies were companionship with loved ones, enjoying nature and the outdoors, gardening, and kyaking.
Richard is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Garrett and wife Lani Sherrill, Coos Bay, Ore.; daughters, Tonya and husband Chad Pomeroy, Eagle Point, Ore. and Tanya Ganley, Seabeck, Wash.; sisters, Elaine Brock, Linda Lewis, and Ilene Bushnell; brothers, James Sherrill and Doyle Kimble; grandchildren, Amanda, Justin, Weston, Shyra, Ethan, Taylon, Ashley, Mariah, Gavin, Haley, Serena, Delbert, Margaret, Ryan, Lydia, and Brandon; great-grandson, Kelton; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by James Kimble, Lloyd Sherrill, and Mary Weeks.
Dick Sherrill was dearly loved and respected by people from near and far, whether you were a friend from grade school or met him last month. His loving, gentle nature made people from all walks of life feel loved and gave them a sense of belonging. He was an influence on many children, some of whom lived in his home who were not biologically related. He will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Ashland Church of Christ, 621 Park St., Ashland. Greg Weston will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
