Michael J. Anderson

Michael J. Anderson

Michael J. Anderson, Bowie, MD passed away May 19, 2015 after a short illness. He was born January 19, 1959 at Forbes Air Force Base, Topeka, Kansas to Lt. Colonel Theodore Anderson and Maggie Anderson.

Because his father was stationed at a variety of locations, Mike had an opportunity to live in many different places. He graduated from Portsmouth Senior High in New Hampshire where he was one of their top athletes in track. He continued to enjoy running throughout his life, participating several times in the Army 10-Miler in Washington, D.C. While attending high school, he also received his real estate license. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the Air Force. He was eventually stationed in England, and during that time was appointed Sergeant.

Throughout his life Mike worked for several companies, eventually owning his own business. He was involved with charity work occasionally and was a Paul Harris Fellow through Bear Creek Rotary Club. Mike was a man of integrity with strong Christian values and deep love for his family and country. He had a great sense of humor and loved to dance. Through that venue he made many lifelong friends. A perfect day for Mike would be sitting in a boat on some lake fishing.

On October 18, 2003 he married Cynthia Lees Anderson, who survives. At that time they relocated to the Washington, D.C. area where Michael was employed with the Dept. of Defense. He continued to work there until his death.

Survivors also include his mother, Maggie Anderson; a sister, Patricia (Rick) Pfau; a brother, Shawn (Holly) Anderson; two nieces, Jasmine and Gracie Pfau; two nephews, Ted and Matt Anderson; two stepsons, Jarrod and Ryan (Kellie) Lees; and two step-granddaughters, Cali and Gracee Lees. He was preceded in death by his father.

Arrangements are being made through Perl Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., June 12, 2015 at the Eagle Point Veterans Cemetery. Following the service, a celebration of Mike's life will continue at the home of Pat and Teresa Hill, 2414 Dellwood, Medford, OR.

Donations can be made in Mike's honor to Bear Creek Rotary for the Polio Plus Foundation, P.O. Box 1189, Medford, OR., 97501.
