Neil Nelson Stockebrand

Neil Nelson Stockebrand

November 29, 1925 - June 2, 2015

Neil was born in Yates Center, Kans. to Robert and Vivian Stockebrand. He worked on the family farm until entering the U.S. Army in 1944.

He worked as a truck driver for the Ashland and Talent Feed Stores before owning logging trucks and moving to Prospect. After retiring from the logging industry he continued to work part time for his son and grandsons: Stockebrand Logging, S&S Earthworks and Express Excavation. He was a lifetime member of the Ashland Elks Lodge and Prospect Search and Rescue. He belonged to Prospect Catfish Cove Club. 

Neil and his brother, Keith, started Search and Rescue in Prospect with the "Rat Patrol." He volunteered many years for the Prospect Jamboree and Timber carnival. He plowed driveways and roads with each snow fall.

Hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends were his favorite hobbies.

He is survived by his brother, Keith (Jodi) Stockebrand; sister, Vera (John) Dakin; son, Richard (Shannon) Stockebrand; stepson, David (LeAnn) Morrison; daughter, Janet Stockebrand; stepdaughter, Carolyn (Gary) Gimenez; grandchildren; John (Kim) Maletic, Michael Malecti, Lisa (Douglas) Bean, Jennifer (James) Showalter, Todd (Kristina) Stockebrand; Addie (Ryan) McHenry; Brandon (Jonetta) Setzer; Debbie (John) Bonett; and many great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by three wives; Dorcas Stebler, Janet Morrison, and Lavina Chapman; one brother, Bud Stockebrand; one stepdaughter, Shannon Morrison; one grandson, Nick Setzer, and one granddaughter, Baby Stoekebrand.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Neil June 14, 2015 at the home of Richard and Shannon Stockebrand. Please bring a lawn chair, side dish, and your favorite stories about Neil to share.
