Rodney D. Biggs
Rodney D. Biggs
Rodney Biggs, 80, went to be with his Heavenly Father June 25, 2015 at home with his family by his side after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In September, 1973 Rod married his best friend and soulmate, Dorothy, and they spent 41 years happily married until his home going. They have two boys Gerald (Rebecca) Kaitlyn and Kelsy and Donald (Sara) Gideon and Jonas. Previously Rod was blessed with four boys, Jeff, Scott, Chris, and Darren.
At the age of 18, Rod went to work for Greyhound Lines in Seattle, Wash. and was quickly promoted to the youngest Terminal Manager in the U.S. in Everette, Wash. He then became Superintendent of Drivers and Terminals in Oregon and Northern California. In 1967 he became Commission Agent at the Medford Terminal where he remained until his retirement in 1995.
The last 20 years have been spent traveling and playing Senior Softball, primarily with The Oregon Roadrunners whom he played with from their inception. Rod was a great shortstop and loved his position, but would play wherever needed just to be with his ball buddies. He also loved playing ball with Jerry and Donny.
Rod was preceded in death by his brother, Michael; parents, Donald and Dorothy; numerous aunts and uncles; and his very special father-in-law, Roy Courtney.
There will be a family celebration later in July.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 1974 E. McAndrews, Medford, Ore. Gamerosity at www.gamerosity.com (supports children with cancer with games and supplies for the little heroes) or the American Cancer Society.
