Myrna Joyce TenBrook went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, July 4, 2015. We are so very grateful to Dr. Alan Bates and all the staff at Providence Medford Medical Center for the great care they provided her over the years.
Myrna was born October 30, 1929 in Rockwell City, Iowa to Frank and Lois (Young) Whitesides. The family moved to Ketchikan, Alaska where she graduated from Ketchikan High School in 1948. In 1949, Myrna married Don Laverne Mansfield. They had five children and later moved to San Luis Obispo, Calif. In 1963, Myrna married Dean TenBrook, in Santa Barbara, Calif. and had her sixth child. Shortly after, in 1965, the family moved to Medford, Ore., enjoying all that the Rogue Valley has to offer.
From 1970–1974, Myrna worked as a PBX operator at the Medford Answering Service. In 1974, she started her banking career at 1st National Bank, which later became 1st Interstate Bank. She also attended the local chapter of International Toastmistress.
In 1989, Myrna retired from the bank and shortly after became a volunteer at Providence Medford Medical Center. Over the years, she put her talents to work, logged thousands of hours, received numerous awards, and made many great friends. It was truly her passion to help others.
Together with her husband Dean and family, Myrna also enjoyed many outdoor excursions, such as fishing on the Rogue River in their drift boat, driving Dean around the golf course in the golf cart, and hunting with their beloved dog, Blackie.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Whitesides (1954); mother, Lois Whitesides (2005); brother, Bob Whitesides (1984); daughter, Joyce Baldwin (1999); and son, Terrance Mansfield (2005).
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Dean TenBrook; sister, Lois Sorvisto of Airdrie, Alberta Canada; brother, Dale Whitesides of Ketchikan, Alaska; children, Michael (Happy) Mansfield of Medford, Ore., Janeane (Robert) Jaynes of League City, Texas, Jenalee (Duane) LaVia of Medford, Ore., and Jean TenBrook of Medford, Ore.; along with their eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1974 E McAndrews Rd. in Medford.
