Allen Lee Matthews

Allen Lee Matthews, passed away September 10, 2015.  He was born in Port Angeles, Wash., attending public school there and graduating in 1949. He worked for the Port Angeles Daily News, starting with a schoolboy paper route, eventually working his way up to Circulation Manager. 

In 1951 he was inducted into the United States Army and served as a Physical Therapist Technician at Sandia Air Base in New Mexico. After his service commitment, he returned to Port Angeles and continued working at the Daily News.

He had a life-long affiliation with The Apostolic Faith Church. He was converted in 1944 in Port Angeles. In 1966 he married Connie Hunt of Medford. He studied for the ministry, and in 1974 was called to pastor a church in Fort Smith, Ark. Allen spent over 30 years in the midwest, as pastor to four different churches. His       beloved Connie died while he was pastor in Kansas City, Mo. 

He was loved and respected by his two foster daughters, Barbara McCarville (Mark) and Debra Burgess (Norman). He is also survived by his second wife, Dixie Matthews; her three children, Douglas Guddat (Verena), Diane James (Alan), and Barbara Kasper (Clifton). Nine young people fondly call him “Grandpa" as well as one great-grandchild. 

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Apostolic Faith Church, 285 Sunrise Ave., Medford, Ore., with interment at Eagle Point National Cemetery. 

Greatly loved by each member of his family, he will fondly be remembered as a man of honor.
