Ted E. DeFord

 

Ted Edward DeFord died September 20, 2014 with his family by his side. Ted was born March 14, 1940 in Lakeview, Ore. He and his father moved to Medford in 1953. 

Ted graduated from Medford Senior High in 1958 and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon in 1963. He married Gretchen Meier in September, 1963. He joined the Air Force and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in September of 1963. Ted served as a transportation officer with TAC stateside, the Dominican Republic, and Viet Nam. He ended his service in 1967 after serving a year in Viet Nam. Ted was very proud of his service to his country. 

Ted's lifelong career in the trucking industry began as a teenager working for his Dad at Ted DeFord's Truck Shop and continued as a Peterbilt salesman and store manager for Mid Pacific Industries, and ending with his retirement as store manager for DSU Peterbilt in 2008.

Ted, his wife Gretchen, and daughter, Courtney owned Alexandra's Clothing Store for 15 years. Ted was a passionate hunter and fisherman.

Ted is survived by his wife, Gretchen; daughter, Courtney (Rudy) Driscoll; grandchildren, Wyatt, Cooper, Montana, and Channing Driscoll; nieces, Kim Kovalyak and Jo Rice; nephews, Pat and Nick Kennedy and their families. He was preceded in death by his dad, Ted DeFord; and sister, Esther Perry.

Interment is at the family plot at Pankey Park Cemetery in Sams Valley.
