Harold Huffman Scott

Harold Huffman Scott, 95, of Central Point, Ore., passed away peacefully Sunday, September 20, 2015 with family at his side, and made the journey from this life to a new beginning and to reunite with the love of his life.

Harold had a long and fulfilling life. There are many lives he has touched with his love, knowledge and wisdom. Harold grew up in Joseph, Ore. with his seven brothers and sisters. Harold left Wallowa County for OSU where he earned his masters degree in Chemical Engineering.

He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WWII attending Harvard, MIT, and Notre Dame and became a Radar/ Microwave expert in the South Pacific. He was involved in the Iwo Jima and Okinawa battles.

Following his naval career, Harold established himself as a point expert in corrosion engineering at Shell Oil in Martinez, Calif.. Retiring from Shell in 1981 following 34 years of service, he then worked around the world as a corrosion consultant. 

In 1991, he and his wife Katie moved to southern Oregon to be closer to family and back in his beloved home state. They relished every moment of family time, countless parties, and gatherings that occurred with frequency. He always had a deep sense of social conscience and served as a officer with St. Vincent de Paul for many years. 

Harold is survived by his three children, Martin Scott of Medford, Ore., Anne (Scott) Daugherty and son-in-law, William

Daugherty of Central Point, Ore., Michael Scott and his wife Tracy of Magnolia, Texas. In addition to his children, there are 14 grandkids, 29 great-grand kids, and six great-great-grand kids. There are too many nieces, nephews, and cousins to count. 

Services are to be held Saturday, September 26, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, 600 Beebe Road, Central Point, Ore. 97502, Father Jim Clifford presiding.
