Luella Mae Baumgartner

Luella Mae Baumgartner, 91, passed away peacefully in her home in Medford, Ore. Thursday, September 3, 2015, in the company of her daughters. "Lu" was born September 23, 1923 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Vernon and Lucille Beloat. She grew up in Arizona with her five siblings. She received her business degree and worked in admissions at the college in Phoenix.

She joined the war effort and worked in the shipyards in the Bay Area where she met and married "Bernie" Baumgartner in 1945. She and Bernie moved to Oxnard, Calif. in 1952 where she was a homemaker and mother and he was a prinicpal in the Oxnard School District. When her daughters grew up she worked again part-time in the office at the Ventura YMCA.

Lu was an avid golfer, bridge player, and crotcheter. She was a great cook and threw wonderful bridge/dinner parties for groups of friends. She was kind and loving and a wonderful mother. She was devoted to her family and courageous to the end.

Lu is survived by her daughters, Kay (Mike), LuAnn (Russ), and Sue (Richard); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy and Lorraine; and her brother, Bob.

Please join us for a funeral Mass and memorial celebration at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. A reception will follow at her daughter Kay's home.
