Ralph Lawrence Hite

Ralph Lawrence Hite was born in Medford, Ore. to Reuben L. and Georgia R. Hite. He was the eldest of five children. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne D. Hite, in 1998.
Ralph joined the U.S. Marine Corps January 17, 1944 and was sent to the Pacific. He served in the Hawaiian Islands, Guam, and received the Purple Heart for being wounded in Iwo Jima. After his discharge, he married Eleanor R. Clouse of Bucklin, Kans. on December 31, 1945 in San Pablo, Calif. Returning to the Rogue Valley, he worked a short time in the fruit industry and then became a third-generation logger.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eleanor; their daughter, Rosa Tycksen (Ken) of Talent, Ore.; two granddaughters, Kendra Reed (Steven) of Magee, Miss. and Brandi Randall (Chris) of Talent, Ore.; four great-grandchidlren, Dylan Randall, Evan Randall, Calder Reed, and Emily Reed; one brother, Max Hite (Norene) of Nevada; two sisters, Audrey Kayler of Anacortes, Wash. and Georgia Cutburth (Jerry) of Surprise, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hite, of Medford, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout the Pacific Northwest and Western States. This October, at age 88, he enjoyed his last hunting season with his nephews, Ralph, Max, and Scott Hite.
His ashes will be buried next to his father and baby daughter in the Phoenix Pioneer Cemetery.
