Harlan Dean Kuykendall
Harlan Kuykendall passed away November 22, 2015 in Shady Cove, Ore. He was born February 22, 1945 in Clebit, Okla. to Albert and Rachel Kuykendall.
“Dean” as he was known to family and friends, entered military service as a young man with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Later, he joined the Jackson County Building Maintenance Department and retired after a long career. He married Martha Merriman Phillips January 23, 2010 in Shady Cove, Ore.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also loved classic cars, fishing, and camping in his fifth-wheel trailer. Dean’s sense of humor shaped his life and touched those around him.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Marty Phillips; his sons, Craig Kuykendall (Devony), and Richard O’Connor (Courtney); his grandchildren, Chayton and Gabriella Kuykendall and Alexa and Kiera O’Connor, and Tayo Gresham. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Don, Wayne, Tinker, and Norman Kuykendall; his sister, Valmalene; and a nephew, Derek Kuykendall.
A celebration of Dean’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Trail Community Church, Trail, Ore. with a reception to follow. Pastor Michael Krutsch will officiate.
