Mabel Arvilla Richmond
Mabel Arvilla Richmond passed away peacefully Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Salem, Ore. She was born July 13, 1931 to Charlie and Lavetta Ireland in Picher, Okla.
The Ireland family moved to Stockton, Calif. where Mabel was raised with her siblings, Warren Ireland, Bert Ireland, Bob Ireland, Alma Burney, Mary Potter, Agness Walton and Nellie Luther. She met and married her husband Eugene (Gene) Richmond and moved to Medford, Oregon in 1950. Gene and Mabel lived in Medford where they raised their children, Gayle Ann, Bud and Karen.
Mabel was an active member in the Salvation Army Church in Medford for many years. For several of those years she and Gene coordinated the annual toy give-away. Mabel and Gene enjoyed roller skating, traveling, and family. Gene preceded Mabel in death in 1990, and Mabel missed him greatly.
Mabel moved to Salem, Oregon in 2009 to live with her son, Bud and daughter-in-law, Sue, but Medford was always home for Mabel.
She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Ann Dunne of Charlotte, N.C.,; her son, Bud Richmond of Salem, Ore.; her daughter, Karen Becker of Medford, Ore.; her grandchildren, Lester Kinsman, Nicholas Kinsman, Frances Means, Jeremy Richmond, Brett Richmond, and Tamera Rochell; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Alma Burney and Nellie Potter; and Muffin, her loyal, four-legged companion.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
