Brigitte Cecelia Lipp
Brigitte Cecelia Lipp, 78, passed away peacefully December 29, 2015 at her home in Talent, Ore. Brigitte was born in Drachselsried, in the Bavarian Black Forest region of Germany in 1937. She emigrated to the United States in 1955.
Brigitte married Alois Lipp in 1960. Together, they built a successful delicatessen on 3rd Avenue in New York City. They had their first child, Anita in 1960. A year after the birth of their second child, Michael, in 1974, they moved to Ashland, Ore. They found Ashland to resemble their beloved Bavaria, with its beautiful rivers, fishing, and mountains. They moved to Talent, Ore. in 1978, where they settled and built a cattle ranch that is still operated by their son, Michael and his partner, Chrissy Austin.
After the passing of her husband, Alois, in 1990 and her daughter, Anita, in 1992, Brigitte became an avid member of the Sierra Club, Nordic Club, and received a Master Gardener certification. She helped establish the ski trail systems at Buck Prairie and Brown Mountain. Adventure was in her blood. She went helicopter hiking in Canada, and just this last July, did a 10 day Coast Walk.
Brigitte attended Our Lady of the Mountain Church and looked forward to her weekly dinners with church friends. She spent her days attending to her beautiful gardens, playing, and crafting with her granddaughter Cecelia, and maintaining the ranch.
She is survived by her sister Ingrid; her brother, Gerd; her son, Michael; and her granddaughter, Cecelia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Anita-Lipp-Ponzoha Scholarship Fund, which supports young girls in pursuing their interests in the area of science. Checks may be sent to North Medford High School, to the attention of: Brandy Tolener.
A funeral mass service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Our Lady of the Mountain Church in Ashland, Ore.
