William Stanley Revel
Our father, William "Stan" Revel, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus December 22, 2015, at his home in Phoenix, Ore. His marriage of 74 years to Monica Louise ended March 3, 2015 upon her death.
Stan was one of eight children, born August 10, 1918 to William and Julia Revel. He graduated from Chase High School and was employed by Gulf Oil Company in Chase, Kan. He joined the United States Air Force, Aviation Training Program in 1943. He attended preliminary and advanced training schools in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. He was awarded his pilot's wings in 1944 in Pampa, Texas.
With more than 800 hours of flying time to his credit as troop carrier commander, he performed combat, evacuation, ferrying, glider tow, paratroop, and parapack drops into enemy territory and emergency supply and freight hauls. His career expanded to manager of a small airport in Lyons, Kan. After moving to Hutchison, Kan. he managed a lumber company, was engaged in mink ranching, wheat farming, and was a finish carpenter.
Stan moved his family to Ashland, Ore. in 1959 and embarked on a real estate career. He founded, built, and owned Stan Revel Real Estate until his retirement.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Our family reunion will be a joyous one. Until then, "Goodbye, Captain."
