"By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also." 1 Cor. 6:14
Neil Jones passed on to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, January 14, 2016 in Medford, Ore. He was born December 6, 1929 to Hershel and Florence Jones (Hill) in Clinton, Okla.
He was born during the Great Depression and was the third of five children. His older brothers, Earl and Jack Jones, were born first. Then, Neil was born, followed by his two younger sisters, Nelle Christensen (Jones) and Ethel Buckles (Jones). That early start to life, and the hardships his family endured during the Depression, would shape Neil’s outlook on life. He liked things to be simple and somewhat reserved.
Neil was married to his wife of 63 years, Janice Jones (neé Pence). He enjoyed being around his family and more often than not, he would gravitate toward the children. Neil loved his family, gardening, and most of all, his commitment to Jesus Christ. He loved horses. Whether betting on one, or simply brushing, or seeing these majestic animals, he enjoyed their power and strength.
Neil had a very large and extended family. He was one of the great characters within the family fold. He was very unique, and always kept us guessing what he was up to next. He was full of life and entertaining quips of knowledge.
Neil was a veteran of the Korean War and was proud of his country, and the men and women that served, including his children. He often wore his service hat, symbolizing the pride he felt for his own service. After his military service, Neil became a boiler tender and cold storage supervisor in the local fruit industry. He worked for Pinnacle Packing Company Inc. in Medford, Ore. for more than 35 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; his children, Patricia McMillian, TJ Leigh and Karen Rawlins, Stephen Jones and Thomas Jones; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Daniel Jones; and two siblings, Earl and Ethel. He will be missed by all that knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Living Waters Foursquare Church, 2200 Roberts, Rd., Medford, Ore.
