Jon W. Boswell
Jon W. Boswell passed away January 14, 2016, at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Ore. after an extended battle with sarcoidosis of the lungs.
Jon was born May 21, 1946 to William Bennett and Rena Elea (Whitcomb) Boswell in Spokane, Wash. He was raised in the Seattle and Bellevue area, and graduated from Issaquah High School in 1964. Following graduation, Jon attended Bellevue Community College and the University of Washington. He made special friends in both schools with whom he remained close for the rest of his life. Jon married Billie Kay Fletcher in 1986, and was a loving stepfather to her children.
His career path took him from working as a flight instructor, to service manager for car dealerships, to a 20-plus-year career for the Boeing Company. After moving to Jacksonville, Ore. in 2004, Jon completed his career at Amy’s Kitchen, from which he retired in 2014.
Jon’s passions were flying, sports cars, classic blues and rock music, great wine, and gourmet food. He and his wife enjoyed wine tasting and introducing friends and family to the great wineries in southern Oregon. Jon volunteered regularly at the Britt Festival until his health prevented him from continuing.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Billie; his stepsons, Jeremy Abraham (Wendy Sedlacek) and Dalen Abraham (Sharon); his grandchildren, Emma and Evan Abraham; his sister, Jacqueline Jones; and a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Jon was preceded in death by his parents.
Private memorial services in Jacksonville and in Seattle will be announced at a later date.
