Bruce Navin Reynolds, M.D.
Bruce Navin Reynolds, M.D., passed away November 15, 2015 in Del Mar, Calif. He was 56 years old.
Bruce was a 1977 graduate of San Dieguito High School in Encinitas, Calif. He completed his Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of California at San Diego in 1981, and graduated from Tufts Medical School in Boston in 1985. He completed an internship and residency in otorhinolaryngology at the L.A. County/USC Medical Center, followed by a sub-specialty fellowship in facial plastic surgery at Stanford Medical Center. He practiced E.N.T. and facial cosmetic surgery for the next four years as a Major in the United States Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
After moving to the Rogue Valley in 1995, he worked in private practice before serving at the Wound Clinic at Ashland Community Hospital and at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in White City. He was loved by his patients for his gentle demeanor, compassionate touch, and holistic approach.
His interests included outdoor recreation of all types, including backpacking, biking, jumping into alpine lakes, and long-distance running. He loved to travel and had visited Europe, India, Thailand, Mexico, Canada, and most of the U.S. While in Ashland, he spent time volunteering at Mountain View Retirement Community. He had special interests in health, nutrition, fitness, and natural medicine.
Bruce was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, mentor, instigator, healer, and humorist to all family and friends. He brought his unique insights and humor to the most humdrum moments and made them into lifetime memories for those around him.
Bruce is survived by his two children, Kathryn and Derek Reynolds; his parents, Joyce and Glenn Reynolds; his siblings, Dale Reynolds and Carolyn Zimring; and his nine nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held November 21, 2015, in Carlsbad, Calif. Bruce’s children and family would appreciate receiving written memories from those who knew or worked with Bruce.
