Dale and Dorothy Childress
Together in Eternity
Dale Leroy Childress passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 in Medford, Ore. He was born February 28, 1926 to Walter and Bessie Childress, of Medford. Dale graduated from Central Point High School in 1944 and served in the Merchant Marine for several years. After leaving the Merchant Marine, Dale lived in the San Francisco Bay area working in construction and driving a taxicab, until returning to Oregon, where he worked for Steve Wilson Logging until his retirement.
Dorothy Mae Childress passed away May 17, 2013 at home, in Medford, Ore. She was born October 7, 1926 to John and Gladys Freeman, joining her big brother, John, in Coalinga, Calif. The family moved to Days Creek, Ore. where Dorothy graduated from Days Creek High School in 1944. She spent her working career at the Medford Water Commission.
Dale and Dorothy were married October 21, 1967 in Central Point, Ore. After retirement, they enjoyed many years of traveling, mostly in their RV, touring the United States, including Alaska, and spending one winter in Hawaii. They also took several memorable cruises. Dale and Dorothy really enjoyed spending holidays and weekends with their extended families.
Dale is survived by his brother, Raymond Childress and his four sisters, Betty Haugen, Erma Layton, Gayle Byrne, and Judy Bamforth. Dorothy is survived by her two children, Jack Van Buren and Joyce Clark; her granddaughter, Kelly Novak; 4 grandsons; and several great-greatchildren. Together, they are survived by many beloved friends.
It was their wish that no services be held but that instead their ashes be spread together, later in the spring, on Roxy Ann Peak where they loved to spend time together and take drives on Sundays, at that time of year.
