Anita K. (Conger) Hopper
January 22, 1938 - March 5, 2016
Anita Kay Hopper, 78 of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully at home March 5th 2016 with family in attendance. She was born in Medford, Ore., to Homer and Margaret Conger.
She attended school elementary through high school in Central Point Ore, and graduated from Crater High in 1956. Anita was proud of being a member of Job’s Daughters, attaining the position of Honored Queen in 1955. She also worked at Adrian's Dress shop in Medford during her last years of high school.
Anita married Rex E. Hopper January 17, 1957. Anita began her 21 year career at Pacific Northwest Bell in 1971 In Roseburg Ore. as a customer service representative, transferred to Portland in 1975 and in 1983 as a result of the Bell system break up she continued with AT&T as a business representative and trainer, retiring in 1992.
Anita was a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary holding various offices in the Columbia River Unit in Vancouver Wash. and is fondly revered as past chaplain of the Dept. of WA MCL Auxiliary.
Anita enjoyed traveling, dancing, shopping, and time with her friends and family. Anita is survived by her husband, Rex E Hopper; two daughters, Brandy E. Wood and Brenda L. Ibarra; five grandchildren, Anthony R. Heilman, Ashley M. Harris, Chanelle M. Heilman, Antionette J Ibarra-Borden, and Jarred J. Ibarra; and seven great grandchildren.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James Conger and Ross Conger all of Central Point Ore.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m, March 19, 2016 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Light refreshments in the Hospitality room will follow the service. donations may be made to the National Cancer Society r your local hospice.
