Hazel Mae Kime Nyberg
Hazel Mae Kime Nyberg, 89, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at a care facility in Central Point, Ore. She was born July 17, 1926 to Wilbur Nicholas Kime and Helen Beatrice Quackenbush in Griffin Creek, Ore. She was the seventh child in a family of nine.
She grew up in Griffin Creek and attended Griffin Creek School, the land of which was donated by her great-grandmother, Mary Kime; Jacksonville schools; and graduated from Medford High in 1944. On November 27, 1945, she married Leonard Louis Nyberg in Reno, Nev. Together they farmed in the Applegate on Squaw Creek and here in the Rogue Valley. Hazel worked in the office of Medford Concrete from the late 1940s until her retirement from Tru-Mix.
Hazel loved to play the card games of cribbage and pinochle, reading, and visiting with the family.
Hazel is survived by her two brothers, John Jackson Kime and Ralph Fredrick Kime of the Medford area; brother-in-law Merle Oscar Nyberg of Grants Pass; sister-in-law, Bernice Beatty Kime of Clackamas, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Louis Nyberg; her parents; sisters, Remo Lillian Wilson, Marguerite Helen Atkins, and Mary Ellen Kime; brothers, Gerald Evan Kime, William Nicholas Kime, and Richard Ralston Kime.
Following her wishes there will be no service. A small family gathering will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be next to her husband in Jacksonville Pioneer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Providence Hospice in Hazel's name. Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford, assisted the family with arrangements.
