Ruby Ann Lucas
She is now dancing on the clouds with the love of her life!
Ruby Ann Lucas, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away April 15, 2016 at Bartlett House in Medford, Ore. Born February 22, 1929 in Mexico City, Mo., she was the daughter of Carl H. and Minnie O. Kreder.
In 1935 the family traveled cross country and settled in the Carlton/McMinnville, Ore. area. She graduated from McMinnville High School in 1948 and went to work at Montgomery Ward for a couple of years. On January 14, 1950 she married E. E. “Chick” Lucas in McMinnville and they began their life together on their turkey farm in Dallas, Ore. In 1959 they moved to Seiad Valley where they started a logging business. It was in Seiad that they raised their children. In 1971 the family moved to Yreka.
After a number of years, Ruby relocated to Medford. She loved painting, music, and she especially loved her family. She was a member of Eastern Star, Siskiyou Hospital Guild, and Trail Riders.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Janis Taylor (Sloan) of Central Point; her son, Donald Lucas (Tara) of Montague; grandchildren, Cody Knight (Cheryl) of Yreka, Amanda Garner (Carl) of Montague, and Brett Lucas of Weed; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Colton, Ryan, and Aiden; sister, Ilene Hougham (Roland) of Yreka; and many nieces and nephews.
