Keith Allen Cooley
Our dad, grandpa, and our best friend, Keith Allen Cooley passed away peacefully Friday, February 26, 2016 surrounded by his children. He was born February 8, 1934 to Royce and Gertrude Cooley in Sherwood Township, Mich. He grew up in Michigan before the family moved to Butte Falls, Ore.
Keith married his best friend, Shirley May Irwin, May 9, 1959 in Klamath Falls, Ore. They were married 54 years at the time of Shirley’s passing. Their children Bret, Doug, and Peggy were all born in Klamath Falls.
The family moved to McCloud, Calif. where they lived for several years. In 1965 they moved to Shady Cove, Ore. where they kept a home for 35 years. Keith served our country as an Engineer in the U.S. Navy until he was discharged in March of 1962. He worked for BF Nork Logging, A&P Logging, and Cascade Athletic Company as a screen-printer until his retirement.
He loved working with wood; watching and feeding his birds; and he loved all kinds of sports, especially the Oregon Ducks.
Keith is survived by his sons, Bret (Kathi) and Douglas; daughter, Peggy; grandchildren, Bryce and Kianna Cooley; family friend, Paul Dryden (Karen); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley Cooley and his brother, Ronald Cooley.
Keith requested that no funeral or other services be held. Family and friends are planning to gather this summer for a picnic in Keith’s honor. If you would like to honor Keith, plant a tree in his memory and watch it grow! He would love that.
