Michael J. Hooey
Michael Hooey passed away peacefully April 13, 2016 with his son by his side. He was born November 8, 1954 to Claudette Wyatt and Norman Hooey.
Michael was a man with extraordinary talents that not only helped people, but gave them a reason to come together. “Live life to the fullest surrounded by all the people you love” was his motto.
A true ski bum with Mt. Ashland being his second home, his passion was the outdoors and many are blessed to be better skilled on the mountain or the ocean because of him and his leadership. He was happiest wearing his Maui Jim’s or pair of goggles with his hair flying in the wind. Michael was an avid gardener, a lover of organic food, and master craftsman. His attention to detail shined through in everything he did.
Michael was a man full of love and hope. He overcame many of life’s obstacles and never backed down from the fight, faced the world head-on, and he always came out on top. He was an inspiration to his family and friends, challenging all of us to believe in ourselves.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Ashland Christian Fellowship, 50 W. Hersey St., Ashland, Ore. Pastor Mark will officiate. His ashes will be scattered atop the beautiful mountains where he will be remembered for his eternal ride.
