Dorothy Jean Ullom
Dorothy J. Ullom, 89, passed away peacefully in her home May 7, 2016.
Dorothy was born May 20, 1926 on a farm in Hagerstown, Ill. and attended Vandalia Community High School, graduating in 1944. She married her life-long love David F. Ullom in 1947 and in 1955 became the proud mother of twin boys, Robert and Stephen.
Dorothy worked as a secretary, teacher’s assistant, and a very busy mother. Dorothy and her husband David enjoyed their retirement together, traveling to many countries and exploring our nation’s National Parks and cities. When home, she was active in her church, participated in women’s meetings, and gave generously of her time to community events. Dorothy was an avid gardener and especially loved tending her roses and trees. Dorothy created beautiful bouquets of her flowers that she (along with her husband David) would deliver to shut-ins and those in their church who were ill. Dorothy was a wonderful cook and was a gracious hostess to many gatherings of family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 68 years, David; her two sons, Stephen and Robert; and three grandchildren, Rhianna, Brennan, and Nate. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend, as well as an incredibly proud grandma.
