Cleon G. Botsford
Cleon G. Botsford passed away peacefully May 23, 2016 at Magel Adult Foster Home. Cleon was born October 12, 1931 in Lake Benton, Minn to George and Laverne Botsford, who preceded him in death. They moved to Medford in 1945 where he attended Medford High School, graduating in 1949.
Cleon married Marie Schulz May 18, 1951 and they had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. During the early years of their marriage, he worked at Pelton Orchard, drove a milk truck for Roland Holmes, then decided to become a logger. He started B&R Logging in 1961 purchasing timber sales from the U.S. Forest Service. He felled timber, skidded logs, and loaded and drove his logging trucks until his retirement in the late 80s.
Cleon was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed bowling and golf.
Cleon is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; children, Sherry Verstrate (Richard), Deborah Hueners, and Ron Botsford (Dolores); grandson, Gregory Denton (Stacey); and three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsie, and Hannah.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 2, 2016 at Trail Christian Fellowship.
