Marjorie Nave

December 1, 1923 - May 27, 2016

Our beloved mother and dear friend left us May 27, 2016, leaving an emptiness that will not be filled.

She was born Marjorie Mae Donahoe on December 1, 1923 to Marie and Michael Donahoe in Sedalia, Missouri. She moved to Medford, Ore. after the war with her husband and love of her life, Edward Nave. There they had three children; Tom, Nancy, and Richard.

Marje was an avid golfer and loved the competition of tournaments. She was notorious at winning any card game she played with her uncanny card prowess. She was a trustee at St Mary's and was involved in many community activities.

The family relocated to Red Bluff, Calif. in 1969. Marje ran her own interior design business there, M & E Interiors, for over a decade. She and Ed returned to Medford in 1983, when Marje became the manager of the retail division of Harry & David and Ed came out of retirement to be sales manager for Medco until it closed down.

Marje and Ed moved to Sun Oaks in 1985. After retirement from Harry & David she helped manage that delightful community and served in many positions on the homeowner’s association board. When she decided to relocate to Washington in 2013, Sun Oaks recognized her labors by dedicating the community center as "The Nave."

For the past three years Marje lived on Whidbey Island, Wash. with her daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, Mike in their guest house. There she was embraced by bridge and Mah Jongg enthusiasts and quickly endeared herself to many new friends. In March 2016 she moved back to Medford for assisted living at the Springs at Veranda Park.

Marje is survived by her son, Tom Nave (Susan Cox) of Juneau, Alaska; daughter Nancy Dicus (Mike Dicus) of Whidbey Island; grandchildren, Julia Nave and Peter Nave, Trenton Scheele (Jessica Scheele) and Bryant Scheele, Jamie Nave Kerr (Shawn Kerr) and Corey Nave; and great grandchildren, Meghan Kerr and Landon Scheele. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Rentz (Jack) and many nieces and nephews who hold Marje near and dear to their hearts. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward in 1995 and her son Richard in 1991.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to her compassionate caregivers from Providence Hospice, Visiting Angels, and The Springs at Veranda Park.

Marje was an extraordinary woman and a gift to all who knew her. Her life and the way she lived so fully were an example and inspiration - a life truly well lived. She was 92.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Mary's Scholarship Fund in memory of Marje Nave, at St. Mary's, 816 Black Oak Drive, Medford OR 97504.
