Lois Maxene Byrne
Lois Maxene Byrne, 91, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at her home in Medford, Ore. Born in Holly Grove, Ark. December 16, 1924 to John William Byrne and Dovie Foil Garrison.Lois was a woman of strong faith and character. She worked most of her life but her favorite jobs were her antique store called “Forget Me Nots” and in her 70s she went back to school to get certified to be a school librarian at Tulsa Street Elementary. She received many awards but the greatest honor for her was when they named the library after her. After her retirement (in her 80s!) one of her greatest pleasures was to send books anonymously to various schools from the “Book Fairy.”She is survived by her children, Kerry Gordon Otterstrom, Linda Maxene Otterstrom, Jo Anne Marie Otterstrom, Luka Leckinger (Aaron); daughters-in-law, Peggy Grier and Judy Trick; brothers, James Lee Byrne (Sheila), David Lowell Byrne (Lori); and sister, Mary Alice Byrne Kellogg (Charles). She is also survived by grandchildren, Norene Wiesen (Andrew), James Walker Otterstrom, Jamie Grier Otterstrom, Allison Telles, Sabrina Fae Frehse, Shawn Gordon Otterstrom, Travis Otterstrom, Hayley Palmer (Bret), Liam Leckinger, Lars Leckinger, and Eli Leckinger; multiple great-grandchildren, beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and her uncle James Chesley Garrison. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Hampson; son, James Steven Otterstrom; brothers, John William Byrne, Troy Milton Byrne, and sister Faye Louise Byrne Simpson.She will be greatly missed by all those who love her. A memorial service officiated by Jim Larsen will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at her home in Medford, Ore. Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Ore.
