George Thomas Dunphy Jr.

George T. Dunphy Jr., 62, passed away Saturday May 28, 2016 at his home in Eagle Point, Ore. George was born June 2, 1953 in Medford, Ore. to George and Doris Dunphy. He graduated from Central High School in 1971 and attended two years of college at Southern Oregon College (SOU). On November 1, 1986 he married his devoted wife, Peggy Sue Grooms.George was a kind and gentle man who always sought the best in others. He was committed to his family and was a positive role model for his children and all of those around him. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, boating, and golfing. In the late summer, you could find him picking huckleberries with his wife or setting up camp at Howard Prairie Lake with his family. He enjoyed a life-long career as an automobile painter, perfecting his craft and teaching others, which gave him the most pride.George is survived by his wife, Peggy Dunphy of Eagle Point; his five children, Olin Dunphy, Roseanne Dunphy, Sarah Cooper,Rebecca Dunphy, and Michelle Botting; his beloved grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Hannah, Ashlynn, Kailey, and Arabella; his three siblings; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, all greatly loved by George.A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. June 25, 2016 at Twin Creeks Park, Central Point, Ore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association via their website: www.ALSA.org.
