Rev. Edward A. Ullrich
The Rev. Edward A. "Eddie" Ullrich passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at his home in Medford, Ore. He was born July 2, 1931 in Watertown, Wis. to Ferdinand Ullrich and Elsie Gehrke Ullrich.Eddie graduated in 1949 from Watertown High School, Watertown, Wis. and continued his education at Moravian College and Moravian Theology, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he earned a master of Sacred Theology degree in 1957. On September 7, 1955 he married Rose Louise Ostertag in Newark, New Jersey.Eddie served Moravian congregations in DeForest, Wis.; Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Downey, Calif.; and Fargo, N.D. He retired as a hospital chaplain in Fargo in 1996. Following retirement, Eddie and Rose relocated to Medford, Ore. to be closer to family.Eddie enjoyed photography, gardening, Jazz music, and never met a stranger. He volunteered as an AARP tax-aide, enjoyed Senior Aces computer club, and was a member of local camera clubs. Eddie was a frequent blood donor and was proud of his many pins. He looked forward to the twice weekly walks with Silver Striders friends.Eddie is survived by his wife, Rose; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Cathy Ullrich of Medford; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Josephine Ullrich of Whittier, Calif.; daughter, Sarah Ullrich of Medford; granddaughter, Daniella Ullrich of Whittier, Calif.; brother, Carl Ullrich of Watertown, Wis.; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Roland Rueckert of Madison, Wis.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Siskiyou Memorial Park, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford.In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Eddie may be made to First Presbyterian Church Jazz Vespers, 85 South Holly, Medf'ord, Ore. 97501 or Providence Hospice, 940 Royal Ave., Suite 410, Medford, Ore. 97504.
