Joan Marie Goodin

Joan Marie Goodin, 81, of Medford, Oregon passed away in her home Friday, July 1, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born Joan Marie Pence April 18, 1935 in Eugene, Oregon to Ray and Dorothy Pence. Her family moved to Medford, Oregon in 1942 and lived in the Rogue Valley for the remainder of her life. She was married to WF “Tex” Goodin for 45 years before his death in 2001. Joan was a lifetime volunteer for many organizations including: Girl Scouts for 42 years from troop leader, to workshops, to working at Tomlin Day Camp. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for 60 years, which she joined in 1953, and was recognized through many awards. Joan also volunteered at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop and was on their board for many years. She was a volunteer at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center; volunteered many hours to children’s SMART Reading program, and over her lifetime she donated 28 gallons of blood to the blood bank. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Rosalie and Carol; and her son, Larry Shane Goodin. She is survived by one brother, Cecil Pence (Patricia) of Escondido, Calif.; her children, Melanie Worsham of Central Point, Garry Goodin (Irene) of Moses Lake, Wash., and Lori Lawson of Eagle Point; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces,nephews, and cousins.

Her family will be having a “Celebration of Life” Reception Tuesday, July 12 from 1:00 – 5:00 p. m. at 2309 Corona Ave, Medford, Ore.
