Bernard R. 'Bernie' Knotts

Bernard R. Knotts passed away March 16, 2016 in Bend, Ore. with his family and loved ones by his side. He was born May 18, 1958 to Raymond and Maiva Knotts in Enterprise, Ore.

He lived on the family farm in Lostine, Ore, where he attended Lostine and Wallowa County Schools until 6th grade. After the death of his father, the family moved to Central Point, Ore. where he graduated from Crater High School in 1976. After high school, Bernard enlisted in the United States Air Force; he worked in many different locations doing G.I.S. mapping and surveying. While working with Doug DeVine of Pacific Survey, he went to South Carolina to survey the Civil War U Boat that sank in the early 1860s. After surveying the boat and identifying the crew members, they went back for the memorial services for the crew. This was the most memorable experience of his career. Bernard then went to       Sisters, Ore. to work for the forest service from 2010 until his death in March of 2016.

Bernard is survived by his mother, Maiva; sister, Rayetta (Kim) Knox; brother, Clifford (Debbie) Knotts; sister-in-law Cloey Knotts, widow of deceased brother, Wayne Knotts; Niece Brittney Knotts; nephews, Raymond, Ryan, Tyler, and Jason Knotts.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Lostine Cemetery. He will be buried by his father, Raymond and brother, Richard.
