Rev. John Oliver Reynolds
John Oliver Reynolds, 89, former Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford, passed away July 12, 2016, surrounded by family. He lived a productive life, filled with faith and good humor.
From 1955 to 1958, John was Assistant Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Medford, where he led youth and a broad range of other ministries. In 1958, John was chosen to be Organizing Pastor of the newly-formed Westminster Presbyterian Church in Medford, which called him to be its first Pastor just a few years later.
On June 30, 1961, John married Denise Bruning, and the couple had three children. Though divorced in 1984, John and Denise remained friends.
In 1970 to 1971, John and family traveled overseas, and lived briefly in the San Francisco Bay Area before he was called as Pastor of St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Camas, Wash. in 1972, where he served for 18 years. After retiring from St. John’s in 1990, at age 64, John was named Pastor Emeritus and moved to Vancouver, Wash.
John is survived by his daughter, Sarah Marin (husband Jean-Claude); sons, Kirk Reynolds (wife Carla Jackson) and Nathan Reynolds (wife Jilma Meneses); former wife, Denise Reynolds; six grandchildren; and his brother, Robert V. Reynolds of Orinda, Calif. John was preceded in death by his brother, Philip E. Reynolds.
A public memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Camas, Wash., immediately followed by a public reception at Camas Meadows Golf Club to celebrate John’s life.
